I'm operating in 16 colours. There's not enough mojo in this box to display file logos. I was referring specifically to top-of-the-range computers people were using as a premise to argue for PC versions of the games, but to be honest I've no idea how the latest generation of consoles compare to what level of personal computer technology.

I know what you mean, I read your post. It's just that, in two or three years, an average computer will be able to keep up with the consoles, and high-end ones will be better than them. So producing a higher visual qulaity game, even if it's something as misinscule as a resolution bump, will give incentive to the PC crowd to buy it up.
But yeah, I suppose if it looks good enough, there's no need for better graphics. After all, there are always new tricks to be used to make great graphics. Take Ninja Gaiden, for example. That looks better than some next-gen games.
