My first best-friend was diagnosed with ADD. He was a great guy, and we grew up with eachother since we were born (our mothers are friends, and still are), through primary school, and into the early years of high school. He definitely fit the book on being ADD, but I honestly can't see it being a bad thing. He refused to go to school, and as such has no formal higher education. However, his motivation is staggering when he puts his mind to it, and I can honestly see him going places. He is a lucky guy, missing out on all that school
I discovered a few years ago that my father has ADD as well. Although I found out through my own secretive searchings of his study, so it sort of came as a shock. But I can't see it really impeding on him, as he is an okay guy. Extremely intelligent too.
To be honest, I think the whole ADD / ADHD thing is rather flawed. I think a lot of people could be diagnosed with it, that aren't. Some people just display more of the characteristics than others, because I certainly have a hard time focusing on things, sometimes verging on the detrimental to my health side of things
