Chapter 4: A Visit to the Clinic
What had happened? All that were the contents of Lok and Zhelin’s memory was a blackness, a malevolent shadow. Chasing after them like it wanted something from them. They had been cornered and it seemed like the end. But no? Suddenly it had just…disappeared. And it was only after they had been seized by Beelzubs and taken up to the Clinic that Lok had recovered a piece of that event. He remembered shouting “Stop!” But who to, he could not remember.
And now, light from above. He felt softness under him and was located in a dark circular room. Filled with test tubes, electro orbs, and other lab paraphernalia. He also felt the presence of a familiar being, sitting straight up in a bed next to him. Zhelin. He seemed to have the same expression on his visage as Lok did. Once the two noticed eachother, Zhelin said, “Lok, do you think we’ve gone insane like the rest of the workers?”
“I don’t think so,” replied Lok, “If we had, I doubt we would be able to understand eachother right now.”
Lok felt the presence of other familiar beings. He was shocked to see the worker’s expressions. They were just lying on their beds, staring up into the ceiling, mouths open. This was the fate of all who enter the Pumps. But why Lok and Zhelin? What was so special about them? They had been spared. Or saved, they really didn’t know. All that they did know was they were safe, and sane. Lok felt guilty. He had it so much easier in the world. An easy job, a good friend, and above all, retaining his sanity after a day’s work in the Pumps.
Lok felt the presence of a new being. One he had never encountered before. He noticed that a tall creature wearing a white over coat, a mask covering only its mouth, and numerous lenses and small flash lights on its head. It reminded him of Desiro for a second. He had never seen another one of his species seen before, and evil and wicked looking.
“Who are you?” asked Zhelin.
“I am Doctor Thelodiconus Albicus,” replied the Doctor, who spoke in a metallic voice, “I am the Clinic here at the Skajako Plant.”
“How come we’ve never seen another one of you before?” asked Lok
The doctor sighed and said, “Because Lach Consortium law 102 states that every facility incorporated in the Lach Consortium must have at least one Fossor physician stationed at all times, happy? Now I need to run some diagnostics on you. To level your insanity.”
“But, I don’t think we’re insane.”
“That’s absurd! Everyone who comes from the pumps these days is insane. I will not be told otherwise!”
“Well, what are you going to do to us?” asked Zhelin.
“Oh, nothing special, just a few high voltage electrocutions and maybe a few glookot injections.”
“WHAT?”
“Don’t get in such a fuss, now say ah.”
“No!”
“SAY AH!”
And at point and time, Lok and Zhelin had flown from their beds and scrambled to the door. The doctor had pushed a button on the wall and the door shut right in front of them. The doctor was coming at them with two needles in his hands, yelling.
The two ran around the room, slipping under him to avoid the needles. “Push the button, Lok!” shouted Zhelin, who was now wielding a metal pipe to block the doctors attempts at injecting him.
The doctor had started pursuing Lok. He had nearly pierced his skin when Zhelin had slammed the pipe on his head. The doctor had dropped his needles and was now pressing hands on his head, spinning about the room.
“The button is over there!” shouted Lok.
But before they could reach the button, the doctor had rushed in front of them, holding an ominous looking pole spitting out electric bolts at the head, “NOW HOLD STILL, I AM GOING TO MAKE IT ALL BETTER!” said the doctor.
The two were backing up when Lok noticed something on the ground, the two needles the doctor was holding. He picked them up and gave one to Zhelin. They both nodded to each other and the doctor came running at them. Lok and Zhelin slipped beneath his bottom and both injected him with what was ever in the needles. The doctor fell to the ground, choking and coughing. He became silent and his body swelled up tremendously.
“Do you think he’s dead?” asked Zhelin.
“I don’t know,” replied Lok, “Let’s just get out of here.”
They pushed the button and the door opened. They walked out of the room only to be greeted by a squad of Beelzubs.
