Though completely unrelated, it's odd how warnings are given out in this forum.
Warnings (in real life, like) are designed to be used when somebody misbehaves once. They get a warning, rather than a punishment, in order to give them a chance to rectify their behaviour. If they continue to misbehave, punishments are issued.
Here, we seem to give people multiple cautions, then warnings, then an official warning, then, if the rest of us are lucky, a nice healthy punishment.
Not that I've got anything against doing it that way of course...
