Oh, well that's a simple question to answer, even if the answer itself is complicated. Truth be told, Munch's Oddysee wasn't what it should have been. Despite all his big ideas for the epic, Lorne was let down by technology inhibiting how much content he could put in the game. Sadly, the finished article was a let down for fans, critics and gamers, and that broke Lorne's heart, so he decided to take a break from the Quintology and wait for technology to advance to a state where he didn't need to make so many sacrifices to the story and gameplay.
In the meantime OWI thought that their next game should jump on the bandwagon and take advantage of the popularity of first-person shooters. A setting was crafted around the Mongo River, an idea that didn't make it to Munch's Oddysee, and a story was written coupling Lorne's admiration for people who let racism roll off their back and his hatred of dams. That's pretty much where Stranger comes from, my friend.
