What makes Oddworld fun? Well, er, lotsa things!
I love the graphics and backgrounds in AO and AE. They were light-years ahead of their timec and are still very good in modern day.
The quirky characters. Mudokons, Sligs, Vykkers, Glukkons, Interns,, Scrabs, Paramites, Munch! They are all unique, original and very cool characters.
Unlikely heroes. Most games have a super-powerful heroic guy, Oddworld has a flatulent little blue guy with sewn up lips (Abe) and a one legged amphibian with a sonar stuck in his head(Munch). Ab and Munch win over normal heroes every time.
The story. A cool, intriguing story with the most original creatures around.
The gameplay (duh!). I just love the old 2D games, I still play them. Fun, and a uniqe style of platforming. The puzzles were geat, the enemies fun to overcome, possesion rules, and you got a feeling of doing good each time you saved a mud, and a feeling of sick pleasure each time you blew one up.

Thus ends my summary of what makes Oddworld fun, but for 1 final thing. The key thing to making Oddworld a great series is just that, it's well, odd!
