A rant (and something of a confession)

As you may know I tend to be a bit of a quiet dragon, save for in Fan Corner and RPG, always have always will, its just how I am. When I first joined the forums (back when we were still on the EZB) I would look through the General, FC, OT, and (after I joined it) the RPG sections thoroughly everyday. Though being true to my nature I tended not to contribute to any topics unless I had something to add to it.
First of all, just to let you know, I was never what you would call a fanatic Oddworld Fan, I was more casual. I liked Oddworld because it had no 'human' characters in it and it jabbed and hinted at the faults and atrocities of our own world. These reasons are why I still like (note: like not love) Oddworld and always will.
However things have changed. I am not as interested in Oddworld as I used to be. This could be for a number of reasons; ranging from me getting older (ugh), the move of MO to the X-Box, stress, and who knows what else. I suppose it was just a phase I was going through...a phase that I am getting over.
Now a days I hardly bother checking General and most topic's in OT don't interest me in the least anymore. The only places I check religiously is FC and RPG (not that the RPG is that active at the mo...). I'm guessing one of the reasons is the nearly constant console bashing that has gone on ever since MO moved to the X-Box. I guess I got fed up with trying to get everyone to understand that it doesn't matter what console a game is on, whether its the X-Box, GameCube, or PS2 (or PC for that matter). It is the quality of the game that truly matters and how much people enjoy it. I personally don't care what the specs of a console are, as long as I can play the games I want (provided there are more the one or two games I want on a system) I am happy. I don't care how powerful the processor is..or if it has a harddrive or DVD-ROM with it. You can't convince me to get a new console by telling me all its features (as Joe the Intern found out the hard way on MSN recently...I should have saved that chat...oh well), the games themselves are what matter to me (and I know I sound like a broken record when I say that MO is the only game that interests me at all on the X-Box, and its silly...if not stupid...to get a console for one game.). To be quite honest...I can't stand reading Steel Shark's mile long technical posts (and that includes game info and the like), they bore me...so I don't bother (thats just me...so you would be beating a dead horse if you started saying I was missing out on important info. Read: I don't care).
By now you are probably thinking: Why are you telling us this? The truth is I needed to let this out. All this doesn't mean I am not still a fan of Oddworld, I still am, just not as big of one as most of the rest of you are. This also is not an announcement saying that I am leaving this board, for I am not. I have made too many friends in my time here and I will not leave them. I will still be writing stories and drawing pics to post in FC (hehe sorry Melvin) and participating in the RPG (hey Rett! Are you going to do that post? Or am I gonna have to do it myself and have Malice do something completely random in addition? *evil grin*). And I will still do my duties as a FC moderator (spammers beware...he he he).

I will end with some opinions on recent topics…

Console wars/Console bashing: I hate it, for the reason’s I have stated earlier and because I know it is a no win situation for all those involved. All it results in is hurt feelings, name calling, hurt prides and bruised egos. Far too many of these topics have popped up lately…and I’m sick of it. (its one of the reasons I hardly look bother looking in OT or General anymore)

Religious debates: Another no win in my book. Each side standing fast with their beliefs and not budging; trying to convince each other wrong.

USA funding terrorism: I find it hard to believe, but I am not discounting it. There are many things wrong with the USA, but I know and understand that no country is perfect…or the best. (Just today in a briefing, I cringed when one of the speakers said that we were the ‘greatest country’. Ugh…)
However I do feel this: If the USA wasn’t so adamant about solving other countries problems and focused more time and money on our own first, we wouldn’t have so many problems and we wouldn’t have terrorists flying planes into our buildings….

I know some of you are probably going to critize/flame me for some of the things I said. I say, go ahead. You bite me...I will bite(if not fry) you back. I have stated my feelings and beliefs in this post and I am entitled to them. If you can't handle that...tough. You cannot change how I am as much as I can't change how you are so live with it.
