Yeah, I know how annoying jumping through gaps using elums can be. The good news is: Elums can jump way much further than Abe, so you need them several times. The bad news: You need sometimes to wait until the last milisecond before preesing the -JUMP- button.
You are doing it right, just keep trying a run-jump with the Elum.
