Whoever Alcar/Abe Babe/other mods and whatnot pick out for positions are more than likely going to be the same people the rest of the forum would decide on, anyways. It's not as if "power" somehow dilutes one's ability to see intellect and judgement in a forum goer. I'll admit that in theory, having leaders control the selection process sounds like a recipe for disaster. But you have to remember, in a place as small and relatively closeknit as this, it hardly matters. It's not as if there's some evil and corrupt choice to begin with, so how could they even be put into office?

That's true, this is a closeknit community and the forum leader should be able to make an informed decision about who is best suited to being a mod... but what I'm saying is that concept generally works better if the forum leader is actually here. Alcar has been making an effort to be here more often, and under the circumstances you described I wouldn't hesitate to trust his judgement, but I'm just a little concerned that Alcar doesn't really spend enough time here to know what the deal is... I mean I've gone a whole day without the forum before and been TOTALLY lost when I've returned, because things have moved on so fast, and new members have arrived and such.
