Are Basements Americain, cos every Brtish and Manx house I've been in, there haven't been one?
Although I wouldn't mind a basement, I would paint it like Necrum mines, and I would turn that into a play area (Our third floor is our play area, and Mums always haning up the washing there! grrrrrrrr!)

Erm....most houses in London have basements or 'cellars.' Most houses in central London have basements because they were useful extra space and could keep people and possessions safe from wartime bombings.
P.S. Which of you live in the city, country or suburbs?
