There is actually a law that states that food cannot be prepared or served around flies. Later that week, after I filed an official complaint various government organisations (health and safety, etc.) the branch was shut down until the problem had been dealt with, and it was discovered that the flies had come from a maggot infestation on a dropped burger that had been swept underneath one of the preparation areas.
