After doing a quick check it seems that the BGaE sequel is still merely a rumour. Which is a shame, 'cos if any game is deserving of a sequel, it's that one.

The guy in charge of BGaE (Michel Ancel) has been put in charge of the King Kong game tie-in with the movie after Peter Jackson saw how amazing BGaE is.

First tidbids released about Kong

The June issue of Playstation Magazine (PSM) has first scoop on the King Kong game that has Michel Ancel leading the project. Peter Jackson personally chose Ancel to create the game based on the upcoming movie, after he had played through Beyond Good & Evil. "Michel Ancel has a great storytelling skill in making you so involved in the game as a player that you actually become emotionally attached to the characters that you're playing." says Jackson.
The game is being developed with an updated version of the engine used in BG&E and Prince of Persia games. The development team at Ubisoft Montpellier has every bit of WETA's conceptual imagery at their disposal. "We've given Ubisoft absolutely unlimited access to every creative aspect of our film production." Jackson says. The magazine article also featured the first image of the game and it's an in-game scene image from Skull Island. The game is set to be released in December and it's going to arrive on every system from GBA to PC.
It might be a bit strange that Ubisoft was chosen to develop the game, when King Kong is a Universal Studios property and publisher Vivendi Universal Games should normally have first crack at it. Maybe Peter Jackson had a clause in his contract that King Kong would have to at least have a chance to be a good game, and at Ancel's hands it has a damn good chance to be one.
