If he's in the brewery and it's definitely not MO, then it has to be AE.
As you approach the lock, the lock will give a slig "hi" (1 on PC). Answer back with a slig "hi." You can practice the slig Gamespeak from the game launch menu (where Abe's peaking out, or just possess a slig and try out the different vocalizations). Listen for the next vocalizations, and repeat them with the appropriate Gamespeak keys/buttons. If you screw it up, just wait a second and you will get another "hi" from the lock and you can try again. If you know how to open a slig voice lock and have another problem, you need to be more specific about what's hanging you up.
