Amen. One of my friends at Uni used to quite openly play what he called "the race card" - he was a big Indian bloke, every bit as English as me, but if things didn't go his way he'd kick up a fuss about racial inequality so he could get his way. To be fair he wasn't a mean bloke, and he volunteered for a lot of things, but it used to leave me incensed when he'd get something overturned in his favour because the admins were scared of being accused of being racist.
And ditto on the weight thing, too - although I've noticed a lot of the popular glossy magazines over here have grown the same way about skinny people, with headlines like "PLEASE, for the love of god, PUT SOME WEIGHT ON!"
