Yay! the last chap! Epilogue to go!
Chapter 13
Spider ran down the corridors, Scrawny riding on his shoulder, taking the turns Scrawny told him to take. They were being pursued now, a couple of sligs where giving chase, shooting at them with their guns. A couple of shots had graised Spider, but he was able to ignore it.
"Where almost there." Scrawny said, glancing behind them at the pursuing sligs, "Just a few more turns and we'll be...GAAAHHHHH!!!!"
Scrawny suddenly fell off Spider's shoulder, clutching the left side of his face. Spider stopped immediately.
"Scrawny!" he cried as he picked up his friend. Spider realized that a bullet had struck Scrawny in the eye and old slig was wailing in pain, "Hang in there..." Spider said softly as he cradled Scrawny in one massive arm, "We'll get through this."
Then with a angry growl, he slashed at the pair of sligs, catching both of them in the head, killing one instinctly and knocking out the other.
"Scrawny...where to next?" Spider asked. Scrawny just babbled incorhearently, obviously still in too much pain. Spide started panicing, he didn't know where to go next and Scrawny was unable to guide him. He whined, looking at the multiple turn offs, trying to decide which one he is supposed to take.
Suddenly there was an accouncement over the PA:
"Attention everyone in the compound," a distinctly femine voice said, "If you value your puny mortal lives I would suggest that you leave the compound at once. For this place will go ka-blooie in less then 2 mins. Chow!"
"Who the frag was that?" Spider muttered.
"Who cares.." Scrawny said weakly, "Yer heard her, we need ter get outta here ASAP. Take the next right.."
Spider nodded and made the turn, going as fast as he could. He made the next few turns as well and they came a across an old doorway.
"This is it.." Scrawny said, "if we can get it open it should take us outside."
Spider nodded and gently put Scrawny down next to the door. He pulled on the door, trying to get it open, but it wouldn't budge. He then backed up and charged the door, but only ended up with a bruised shoulder. Not about to give up, he backed up more and charged again at full speed with a vicious howl. He threw all of his weight against it and broke through, causing him to stagger and fall flat on his face. It was dark and he was immediately assulted by tons of new smells, but he ignored them and went back in to grab Scrawny. Just as he was exiting the door, the place blew, sending him and Scrawny flying. Spider intinctively wrapped himself around Scrawny as they where thrown into a ditch and both were knocked unconcious...
