Okay, here is the next chapter. Most of the credit for this chapter goes to Sal the Mudokon... who wrote it in 10 minutes.

Chapter 9
Mervick was thinking about the dream he had yesterday. It made him shudder. It was the most gruesome dream he had ever had. Up ahead, he heard screams. Not those of a tortured Scrub, but of something like a wild animal. It was almost a banshee scream, full of horror, helplessness, and despair. Mervick was bewildered. Had he already gotten to the butchering room? He continued and heard another Slig voice. It was giving orders. As Mervick progressed, he could make out what it was saying. Not only was there a Slig, but it sounded like there was a Scrub, too.
“I don’t want to do it! I can’t stand watching anything else die!” said the Scrub.
“I don’t care, you little wussy! Pull the damned lever!” demanded the Slig.
The Scrub started to get angry. “No! This Scrab never did anything to hurt me, or you!”
This was said, as Mervick rounded a corner into the room. He was just in time to see the Slig raise his gun to the Scrub’s head. Mervick couldn’t take it. “Hold it, buddy.” There was another gun raised, now. This one was pointed at the Butcher Slig’s head. The Butcher Slig trembled, and pivoted to fire on Mervick. There was a flurry of fire, and one Slig fell to the floor.
