OK people. Here is Chapter 5 for those of ya who still read it.
Chapter 5
Mervick had been walking for several hours now. He felt mentally exhausted at how intricate this route was. Tiny corridors, cramped air vents, nearly impossible security voice locks. Mervick was facing insurmountable odds, and didn’t know if he could win this gambit much longer. The thought of a ’Worst Case Scenario’ was still running through his head. Glukkons often train young Sligs. Mervick ran over all the training in his mind. The answer had to be somewhere. Back to ’The Mission’, as he called it. He was in a large room, with many machines that processed the meat from the production line. This part of the factory was nearly un-inhabited- except for a few maintenance Sligs- because all of the machinery was automated. This was probably the most dangerous part of the whole route. This machinery was dangerous. Mainly because mechanical arms swung low, grabbing for large boxes of Scrab cakes. Mervick had to duck often, and be very careful. This was a large room, and might take at least 45 minutes to get through. Past this room, and through a few more passageways, was the Mess Hall. In the Mess Hall, he was most likely to be caught. IF you are inside Rupture Farms all of your life, it’s hard to tell what time of day it is. Mervick would have to rely on luck, hoping no-one was eating when he managed to get there. He corrected himself; if managed to get there. He was about 1/3 of his way through the room, when he started hearing voices. He stopped, and sat silent for a few minutes. The voices seemed to move off to the left, so he continued on. What he didn’t know, was that it was a search party circling around the room. Now he heard voices approaching from behind, and to the right. He was almost surrounded. The only direction he had left to go, was the front. Mervick was paying to much attention to voices around him to notice the large mechanical arm swinging at him from the front.
That's the end. Sorry the Chapters are so short. Chapter 6 coming soon. (I will make an effort to write at least one chapter per day.)
