Well, let me see if I can come up with some original ammo for Stranger:
Firds: Little birds that you shoot and guide in 1st person to hit your enemies. Think of guided missles. Once you hit your enemies, the birds stomach explodes, making a rather large explosion.
Flung-Dung Beetles: Basically like grenades, and easier to use than the boom bats. They bounce around things before exploding, too.
Buckers: Little beavers that you shoot at ladders, trees, and other structures to get the upper hand on enemies. Let's say an enemy is on one of those stake-outs on a tree. Chuck a Bucker at the tree to knock the tree down. Not very Oddworld-like, but still cool. Works on enemies how slegs work on Stranger.
Squirms: Worms that you toss out on a lure to get ammo from lakes. Also, most enemies love the stuff so they'll take a nibble as well. Pull em in to suck em up.
Upgraded Bolamites: Throw one of these at an enemy and it will wrap them up and pull them to you so you don't have to go out risking yourself. The best new feature is the ability to swing from tree limbs and to pull yourself up and camp out to snipe at enemies. Works on other "limb-like" objects like poles, beams, and etc.
