That's usually a reason why people use them. They feel they have to be fun, and fun is associated with using drugs. I don't want to read too much into your words, but you've grossly generalised, and shown a possible reason for your so called 'absolute own choice'.
In my experience, everyone I've known to take drugs does so because of peer pressure. I mingle with a variety of people, most of whom my best friends could be classified as 'poorer' or 'working class'. In such a situation, it is common for me to be exposed to drugs. Not too mention all the other exciting events that follow along with gangs and crews.
Heck, even I started drinking because of peer pressure. The first time I drank, in the absence of my parents, was a few years ago. At a friends party, where upon stepping into their backyard I was thrusted a bottle of tequila, and basically coerced to 'scull' it. And I did. From there, it was a while longer before I became responsible and said no when appropriate.
Oh, and yes, sex is over-rated. In most regards, anyway.

What I mean is, people who constantly bitch about drugs being bad are really boring to hang with. You end up not having a good time because they put a downer on your group, and attempt to stop you from taking drugs with their lectures and pep talks on drug health. Sorry if I offend, but I just don't like Frank much.
I'm a responsible guy, so don't get me wrong here. I don't do ANY of the heavy drugs. Pills is as far as I go, and these days I refuse to touch them.
And you've read wrong; I usually entertain people when I'm sober, I'm generally a lot less entertaining when I'm wasted, but that still doesn't stop me from having a good time while I'm at it. I honestly laugh at people who do weed and things just to maintain an image... I mean what's the point? At about 20 quid per 8th, that's quite a pricey image. I don't need to be stoned to be cool, I have good friends who like me regardless of my mental and physical state.
