How about more usable plantlife?
So far, all of the ammo are animals- Maybe there could be some sort of plant ammo?
After seeing those semi sentient plants in Minority Report- The thought occured to me of the Steef using a pod that rapidly grows a vine to make a bridge or something. Maybe even use it to reinforce an unstable platform...
Another sort could be used to climb up or swing from.
