Some of my favorites are The River Why, 1984, A Clockwork Orange, and uhm . . . The Amber Spyglass. Oh, and anything by Christopher Moore (Lamb, Coyote Blue, Island of the Sequined Love Nun, et cetera). The River Why is the best.
Probably the worst book I ever read was Slaughterhouse 5. I know it's a classic, but really, I hated that book. Maybe someday I'll read it again and try to figure out what I missed. There must have been something meaningful in that book to make it such a classic, but apparently I overlooked it.
