I have trouble sleeping. I'm not sure it would be defined as insomnia. I don't actually know the medical definition of insomnia. If it's simply not being able to sleep, then yeah, I'm an insomniac.
My mom tells me that I can beat it by associating being awake at night with something really boring. Like, if I can't sleep, instead of reading or watching TV as I normally do, I should do something like cleaning my room or doing homework so that my mind will associate being awake with incredible boredom, and I'll fall asleep more easily. I haven't had the willpower to do it yet. Who does homework when they can't fall asleep? Ugh.
I also don't seem to sleep well even if I fall asleep and don't wake up (this is rare, but it does happen). When I wake up in the morning, my eyes hurt like hell and I feel like I haven't slept at all. So I think there's more to it than just not being able to sleep.

I'm the same way a lot. Even if I do sleep at night, I wake up and sometimes even have headaches and my eyes feel and look swollen.
