I fell in love with the original games because of the realism- and there was just enough goofiness in the Mudokons to lighten things a little without seeming too cartoony. Oddworld now managed to make a shooter that I love. I love the way Stranger moves..
However..
Why do I get the sense that the humpbacked outlaws are somehow familiar- as if I'd seen them before in some Hanna-Barbera cartoon? Right down to that striped tophat...a bit like spotting Bugs Bunny or Taz in a Star Wars movie.
If anything, SW is much more lush than AO or AE- or MO for that matter. (Don't ya just love the way all that vegetation even grows underground)
SW has more of the sheer immensity of the original games..love that too.
The fuzzles look better- maybe they'll tune up the Clakkers, Grubbs, Outlaws and Wolvarks a bit for the next game. The cartoonyness mas most pronounced with them.
We finally saw a night level albeit in the rain-I would not mind having some night levels like the stockyards- with the Oddworld moons looming above..Watcha think?
