Just because they havnt as yet iterated the feel of AO into 3d, it doesn't mean it's impossible.
I'm really starting the appeciate the cartoonyness that Oddworld has adopted. The bad ending for MO, for example, was brilliant. It's not constant either. In the opening of Stranger, the only real cartoony bits are capturing the ammo and then capturing the bounty.
