At a guess, I would say the name Wolverhampton came about from Lady Wulfruna, a Saxon lady who founded the monastery (and essentially, the town) back in Saxon times.

True, also from King Wulfrun who ruled this area in that time. Thats why we have the Wulfrun shopping centre.
