Abe's Exoddus PAL crashing error - Sollution
Ofcourse the entire forum is completely into Stranger at the moment. But let me address a much older problem. Its been a long while since I last was here, so maybe the problem is already fixed.
I remember a time though, when there were a lot of problems from ppl with the PAL (Europian) version of Abe's Exoddus. It will not work on Windows XP/2000 and above. A lot of posts were made about it in the help forum, but all the replies were either from ppl over in America from which it worked just fine, or from fellow ppl who had the same problem. Never was there realy a sollution.
But now, today it just hit me. And only the guy up there knows why I havn't thought of it before.
If one were to have the American version of the game (Can't remember the name for it) one could make an ISO image of the game CD's using a program like alcohol 120% or blindwrite. This ISO image is a direct copy of the game disc stored on the hard disc, which can be loaded into CD-rom simulation programs like Deamon Tools.
In theory, if you re-install the game and run it again, it should work just fine.
Ofcourse, this is in theory. If anyone would like to help me test this out we might have found a good alternative to playing Abe's Exoddus once again.
The question that remains ofcourse is: Isn't this illigal? Technicly no, since you only make yourself a backup of the game and pass this backup to someone els who also has an official bought copy of the game. Thus the only catch to spreading the ISO image to someone would be that this persone would have to prove he/she owns the original game.
Does this sound like a good or a bad plan, and would anyone be interested in helping me test out the theory into practise?
