Does god acttually have a name?!

He's got tonnes of them, of which the tetragrammatron (ie Jahweh) is the most famous. Only problem is that most of them are ineffable - even Jahweh/Jehovah is only an attempt to pronounce the letters YHVH (ancient hebrew doesn't have any vowel markers). So in order to get around the non-effing rule Jews call him God or Hashem, which literally means 'The Name'.
