I hit the Canyon floor like a ten megaton bomb, and rolled into the rushing river in the middle.
It took me a while to figure out where the others were.
They were up on the Canyon floor, and somehow stopped themselves from rolling into the river.
Ziggy, Monty, Slug and Grunt were shouting.
But were was Richy?
The answer came to that when a grey blob floated past me.
It was Richy!
I panicked, and realised nobody was going to get in the water.
I tried my very best to swim, because I knew Sligs weren't capable of swimming.
Then an Idea came to me.
I stopped treading water, and floated to the right-hand side of the river.
The current changed from slow to fast, and I went zooming down the canyon.
I saw the panicking little vykker treading water, so I floated up to Richy, and grabbed him.
Richy's frown turned upwards as he felt my hand grab his hand.
I pulled him towards the bank, and he climbed on.
He helped me up, and ran to Monty.
"Richy! Thank Odd you're OK!" Monty cried.
He gave him a big hug, and Monty ran up to me, and hugged me.
I walked to the others, and started to gather up logs and twigs for a camp.
"Why didn't any of you try to help?" I asked all of them.
"Well, you know us Sligs, we can't swim." Ziggy said, with the other Sligs nodding.
"Well I can't either!" I screamed.
We all turned to Monty.
"Why didn't you?" I asked.
"I had swimming lessons, but something put me off for life." Monty said.
We all moaned like an annoying little two year-old, and Monty gave up.
"Well, it started when I got my final swimming certificate, and I went hiking.
I decided to go for a swim in the river.
Nothing went wrong, apart from the occasional Gabbit trying to eat my
you-know-whats.
Then the bad thing happened.
I fell down the waterfall.
And that was the thing that put me off swimming." Monty said.
We all stared at him.
We stopped, and went to make camp.
