It is the reason that the English language is part Latin (due to the Romans who come later on) and German (because of the German nomads Rich was talking about)

I noticed that English is very similar to Deutsch, that's why German is easier to learn than French. My ancestors were probably a big mix of all the invaders, but I'd say that the biggest "bit" that makes my family up is German.
More recently (before 1850) my family on my mother's side were gypsies! Gypo scum!
My family became "city people" during the industrial boom in the late Victorian era.
