The Hitchiker film uses the script/screenplay/ideas Adams wrote for it, so you can't complain about the story. There are some changes. I guess most noticably, Ford Prefect is played by Mos Def. Intriguing... I don't see anything wrong with changing such relatively minor details, though. So long as it's the same character, that's all that matters.
I'm a little more concerned about the League of Gentlemen film. It's about the inhabitants of Royston Vasey struggling to rescue their town from an Armageddon, and involves a vortex through which characters travel to the 17th Century. I just have nightmares of the characters finding out they're actually fictional. :\
