More importantly, how do you know that the disabled want to have their disabilities 'fixed'? There are a lot whom I'm sure are happy leading the life they currently do, just because we are abled doesn't mean we are any happier.

Yeah, and if they were born disabled they might not know how to walk right and that would take years.
EDIT: Well, maybe not years but it will take quite a while.
