I think of sexual desire as more of a physical instinct, like hunger. Love is completely different.

Love is a product of human emotional evolution. It's something humans learnt to do when we first started building civilisations. And it grew so common it became passed down as a part of your emotions.
I don't know why I've suddenly become some sort of evolutionary scientist but I think I'll go with it for now.
