The definition of fruit is a seed pod. The plant produces a flower, which gets fertilised and then becomes a fruit. Thus tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins and corn are all officially fruit.
The definition of vegetable seems to vary a lot more with everyones opinions. Its possible that there may be some overlap for some people.

As it is, my Mother has a salad that accompanies every Dinner meal we have. Usually it is lettuce, cabage, tomatoes, cucumber and potatoes.
