To be fair on OWI, the only game they've actually announced that hasn't come out (aside from Stranger) is Oddworld: Hand of Odd. Everything else, like Squeek's Oddysee, the Fearietales and SligStorm have just seeped out into public knowledge.
I don't know about Munch and Squeek, or even the rumoured Nod. Sounds like onomatops are popular for hero names, but maybe there is some thought behind them. I'm convinced Abe's name comes from Abraham Lincoln, who contested slavery in America. And then there's Sam... Uncle Sam!
