Part 4

*Setting: A day had passed since Jolas and Radcleff had infiltrated the Magick store and saved their fellow Summoners from enslavement. Eight had been rescued in total, and now they stood united under their common goal of freedom. Jolas' strength had returned to him now and many of his powers were once again useable. Radcleff, on the other hand, was not as well as his counterpart and was constantly coughing and retching, if not muttering ramblings to himself. The conditions in which they lived were by far unsuitable for such an ill being also, for they were now living in a large, abandoned house. The wood rotting and the bricks cracked. Rats scampered in and out of the gaping holes in the skirting boards and Cockroaches scuttled up and down anything remotely climbable. The newly freed Summoners were eager to save more of their kind before the Elders realised what was going on and cared little for Radcleff, who many deemed the first of many casualties in the war against enslavement. Jolas however cared much more, so much infact that he dared not leave his side throughout the night when he was spluttering and choking whilst the others slept.*

Summoner: "But, Jolas, we must make a move! All it takes is one customer to enter our old shop and we've had it! Our freedom is no more!"

The Summoner was a dark brown colour, her skin scarred and dirty and her ears torn and ripped. Her large pink eyes seemed to plead with desperation, but Jolas merely bowed his head, shaking it slowly as he cast his eyes towards Radcleff, who had now finally drifted off to sleep on an old matress.

Jolas: "I cannot leave him. It is my fault that he has become this ill, i told him to suck the Soul out of that mortal even though i knew there was a chance he wouldn't be able to do so. I forced him, practically."

Summoner: "Jolas, you forget. We are immortal and invincible beings. No mortal or Demon can kill us. Radcleff may be ill, but he will soon become well again. And whilst you wait for this, you may as well free more of our kind."

Jolas' eyes still lay upon Radcleff, who was mumbling slightly under his breath.

Jolas: "You do not know that for sure. I could have sentenced him to a torturous death. A death beyond our mere com..."

Summoner: "NO!"

She growled this word firmly, grasping Jolas by the head and forcing him to look her in the eye.

Summoner: "You are our Savior. You are the being that will relieve all Summoners of our slavers. You will be in history, Jolas. You will fight for our cause and win! You cannot allow a casualty to sway you from your task. If you wish, go to a Seer and ask them what will become of Radcleff, otherwise tell us now, are you going to lead us to victory? Or will we have to lead ourselves?"

He stepped back, looking into the creatures pink eyes which were obviously anxious of his answer.

Summoner: "If it is the former, i say we elect a Summoner to stay with Radcleff and aid him until he is well again."

She added this quickly, only just thinking of it and knowing that it would be a good reason for Jolas to continue his work. But slowly Jolas shook his head, gazing down at the floor with feelings he had never felt before...guilt and shame.

Voice: "No!...*Coughs*...N-Not for me!"

Jolas turned, Radcleff was sat up on the matress, his breathing hard and wheezy and his mouth shining slightly as he spoke. His eyes were red and sore, watering more with every blink he took.

Radcleff: "Do not...*Cough*...G-Give up for...me, Jolas!"

The female Summoner turned to the corner of the room, looking into the shadows were now the other seven creatures were emerging, intrigued to what was going on, their eyes alight with interest and hope.

Jolas: "Look at you, Radcleff, i cannot leave you like this, and i will not leave you like this! I will sta..."

Summoner: "He will suffer in vain then. Like you said before, he was forced to take the Soul due to your inability to do so. If you do not carry on helping our brethern, surely Radcleff will be suffering for no reason?"

Slowly Radcleff nodded, knowing that somewhere in the females voice was a hint of coldness and conceit, but believing that, due to his illness, he was imagining it and that she was merely saying what would be best.

Voice: "Nageel is right, Jolas."

One of the other Summoners had spoken, his voice low and gruff and his skin as black as coal, clashing with his eye colour which was pure white. Upon his speaking there was a mumur of agreement, mirroring Radcleff's nodding.

Nageel: "And the more we save, the more can stay and help Radcleff."

She smiled broadly, her face half masked in the shadow.

Radcleff: "Please, Jolas. D...*Coughs*...Don't give up...f-for me."

Crouching down Jolas smiled and patted Radcleff on his shoulder firmly.

Jolas: "Then if you are sure..."

Radcleff nodded and smiled, wincing as he did so.

Jolas: "...we leave day break tomorrow. Harool and Cajun shall stay with Radcleff, the rest of us, heh, will give our enslavers Hell."
