Its the same for me... in the north east of england its as if every other girl/woman between the agew of 20 and 30 is called Claire/Clair/Clare!!!!
I think there was a TV show running in that period with female protagonist of the same name... but thats not why I was named Claire... my mum worked with a woman who used to talk about her older sister a lot calling her "our Claire"... mum liked the name!
