Grid vaguely felt a steady bounce in his body, as if he was being carried. He tried to open his eyes. He couldn't. He tried to move. He couldn't. He tried to scream. He couldn't. The only thing he could sene was the constant but slight bounce every couple of seconds. In his mind he saw flashing images of green, then red, then green again. He saw images of the farmer's face moments before he died. He heard the scream he had heard earlier when he saw the second beam.
He heard a voice, muttering something over and over and over again, but he couldn't understand what it was.
