That's news to me. Curse the bizarre differences between dialects! Heh heh heh, one time an uncle or something of mine was in like New England or the U.K. or somewhere and asked some storekeeper where he could find some oars, and the guy said something like "Ye'll be wantin' to call them 'paddles' 'round 'ere."
ROFL, that's one of the best stories I have.
