When you guys play board games and the like what are your favorite rules variations?
Here are some I like: Monopoloy for money. You start the game with 1000 bucks, with each buck equalling a penny. So its like a ten dollar buy-in. Play is as normal. You set a time limit, say an hour, and at the end of an hour you get a penny for each dollar you have left. Great fun.
This next one got started when we were playing Texas Hold 'Em with a deck of those Iraq's Most Wanted cards. Anyhow, the 8 of Hearts is a complete chode bastard so before we play we pick a card at random we play that if you stay in all the way to the river with an 8 of Hearts or the random card you get 10 percent of the pot.
Same time Risk is also the bomb. You can make unlimited troop movements from one territory. Say you have 20 on Greenland. You could move 5 to one territory touching it and 5 to another territory touching it. Surge attacks, Spoils of War, connected Empire bonuses and other such goodness spice up the game.
