Both ... as I own both consoles, I will be buying it on both. The US version firstly when it is released there [as I have an American Xbox], and then the local [Australian] release for the PS2.

Personally, I think it'll do better with Sony. Xbox gamers are more stereotypical in general, which explains why the majority of Xbox games are either FPS or racing. Playstation gamers are more apt to enjoy something a little out of the ordinary.
Although I enjoy both consoles, I do seem to find that the PS2 has a wider range of games than the Xbox. Like you say, Xbox has a lot of FPS and racing games which I really aren't into. I find PS2 games appeal to me a lot more, particularly how there are a lot of RPGs. As a result, it seems that PS2 gamers seem to enjoy a larger range of games and although the Xbox has come a long way, the PS2 still has the larger market out of the two consoles.

I generally think that the Xbox has smoother graphics, although I have seen some PS2 games that have impressive graphics also. I only own one title for both consoles which is Silent Hill 2, but it's hard to compare the graphics of my two systems when you are running a NTSC Xbox on a PAL TV, it degrades some graphical elements, like red is shown as pink ... makes blood splatters very amusing [I wonder if there is a convertor I can get to fix that issue].
