Chapter 3
As she slept, she dreamed. Faint images she couldn’t quite make out teased her mind. She could make out the emotions that came with them: pleasure, pain, fear, and sorrow. She twitched in her sleep, the emotions where disturbing to her. One particular suddenly struck and the emotion that came with it: shear terror. She feel like she was running for her life, and pain was assaulting her body. It was too much…
She jolted awake with a loud shriek, waking Spider up.
“Ow!: he mumbled, “watch the voice will yer?”
She looked around confused, the emotions she was experiencing in her dreams still had her firmly in its grasp. With another shriek she bolted, surprising Spider.
“Hey, where are yer going?” He said as he got up and went after her, “Come back! Its ter dangerous fer yer ter be on yer own!”
She couldn’t hear him, the feeling of fear and terror still holding her. She kept running, blindly, shrieking loudly in terror as she went. She stumbled at the top of a steep hill and tumbled down the other side, landing in a heap at the base. Bruised, shaken, and scared, she lay still as Spider run up to her.
“Yer ok?” he asked as he looked to see if she was hurt.
She didn’t respond, she was too petrified to move or speak. Spider not seeing any major injuries, laid down beside her and put and arm around her. He didn’t know what spooked her, but he did know she needed comforting. He rumbled to her as he nuzzled her neck.
Eventually she buried her head in his neck and wrapped her arms around him, sobbing.
“It’s ok…” Spider rumbled softly, “It was only a dream…and dreams can’t hurt yer…”
“Then…” she sobbed, “why did I feel pain during this one? Why did I feel sorrow and fear?”
Spider was at a lost for an answer…
