I was always under the impression that Cain was marked with white skin. Presumably, since darker skin tends to occur in places with more transient housing methods the proto-humans of back in the day were dark. Besides, Cain isn't mortal, right? I believe he was supposed to walk the earth forever in shame. This is where the christian rationale for vampires came from. I may have assumed too much by guessing that the story of cain and abel was an allegory for white agriculturalists killing darker skinned shepherding people. I mean; whitey ain't right.
But I can't say too much, because I do have a hatred of people who believe in "civilization" and "converting" as well as a general disdain of people who choose the one book of unsubstantiated evidence against the numerous real-life examples and oft-tested evidence given by the real world. Where we live. But alas, people continue to follow ill-guided "faith" in the belief that someone or something is "testing" their resolve. If you don't like cults, you can't like religion.
I don't mean to soley bash christianity here, I equally dislike all religions of the book: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. And I don't mean to imply that people who follow these faiths are all witless, tottering, inbred sheep unable to form coherent sentences without the aid of an authority figure guiding them by their lily-white pampered hands. Clearly there are religous people of intelligence, but most of these have ceased to live or be heard, generally because their ideas are considered too "liberal." As if conservatives necessarily own religous fervor.
The main point is that the Religions of the book are bound and determined to kill or convert all opposed. And that ain't cool.
EDIT: And Jacob's rendition of Adam and Eve's fall from grace just made him my hero. Also, as usual, Shell Man is right on target. Comes from living in Seattle, probably.
