Actually it wasn't Cain who was (supposedly) turned black it was Noah's son (I can't remember which one) because he mocked his father one time when he was pissed (Noah, not the son). And the punishment is not actually in the bible, it was made up by a commentator and is generally not highly regarded.

:
Actually God will not other people who believe in other religion in such as Buddhism into heaven. Since God gave the law saying you shall not worship false idols and he is the only God etc...
See this is the problem with the perspective on religion today. Too many people form their opinions based on the most outspoken Christians out there - who tend to be the fundamentalists. The people who go quietly through their lives practicing any religion (christianity included), trying to better the world and themselves tend to get ignored and replaced by bible-bashing tossers.

Joshy, there are plenty of religions out there that don't say that you have to be a member of their club. eg any of the polytheistic religions. Also, moderate Islam says that you're okay as long as you are a monotheist (though still not as good as a Muslim). Judaism says you're fine as long as you keep the 'Seven Laws of the Sons of Noah' ('Son's of Noah' meaning everyone in the world) which are as follows:

no murder
no stealing
no worshipping idols (generally this means physical idols, other religions are ok)
no blasphemy (not too sure what this means in this case)
no sexual immorality (lots of rules in here)
no eating a limb of a living animal (generally regarded as a basic law about cruelty to animals)
and the big one: You must establish your own laws and systems of justice.

Now if you aren't jewish you won't get the same reward as if you were, but Jewish people have to follow 613 commandments instead of 7 so we also have a further way to fall. (BTW this is the source of the phrase 'Chosen People' - chosen for further responsibility, not special treatment)
