*SPOILERS!*
Well, Charlie Vincent shows up and reveals that Malus is Dracula by throwing a bottle of Holy water on him. If you take extra long to beat the game, Charlie turns into a Vampire because he tries to take on Dracula by himself and fails. So you end up taking Malus back to your village and thus the bad ending occurs. Here's a random site I found that documents each ending in detail.

Oy, and I thought Jak 2 was good as well. Although, when they found out that Haven City was actually their world in the future, it felt a little too
Planet of the Apes-y to me.
