I think it's pretty glaringly obvious that this is fake. The article provides no medical proof of such a phenomenon.

the article is from ananova. Not a site generally known for quality medical journalism. Anyway, we have confirmed that it is possible to 'break' your penis (which is really just popping internal blood vessels) so maybe that's what happened here and anananananaananova decided to make it sound a bit more exciting by talking about explosions...
