Actually I loved the book and the movies. Only problem is that sarcasm is very hard to get across using a keyboard.

Oh and I had a bad experience reading Les Miserables (1200 pages) - Victor Hugo got paid by the page so he put in a lot of padding.

eg The first 70 pages describe the personality of a character that takes up only 5 pages in the rest of the book (if you've seen the show, I mean the priest who forgives Valjean for stealing his silver).

And at least half of the rest of the book is semi-philosophical waffle. Very painful to get through. It took me seven months to finish it. I would read a chapter, get to the next boring bit, put it down for two week, build up the strength to forge through the waffle, get to the next good chapter, read it, get to the next boring bit, put it down etc etc etc
