Mean nasty, is April fools day.
I believe the top "joke" going around the classrooms (particularly Chemistry, aka Doss) was:
Joke Teller:
[makes mock phone ringing sound]
You hear that, its my phone!
[proceeds to getting imaginary mobile from pocket, "answers" it.]
Really?.... wow.... yeah... sure.... ok... Yeah, Ill tell him... [serious and subdued manner]
[hangs up phone]
Guess what?!

Victim:
What?

Joke Teller:
Ya mums just been killed!! Ha ha ha ha!

Absolutely halarious, but only because it shocks you into laughter. Must be the british humour - unless other people find it funny.
However, it probably doesnt seem funny when written. its just because its so unexpected.
Rather insesnsitive if your Mother is not of top-notch health, however.
