I went to Arizona once and really enjoyed myself. Hiking to anasazi ruins and whatnot is loads of fun. I've always enjoyed Native American mythology 'n ruins 'n stuff.
And if I were to move after I retired, I wouldn't mind the warm temperature. I would probably shoot for Phoenix or Flagstaff or something.

I'd have to say your best bet would be Gilbert. I live in Gilbert, and I've been to all the major cities here...trust me, it's the best. It definitely looks much nicer and all, and has a higher quality feeling to it. It's really nice. Phoenix and Tempe are very trashy, low-income areas. I really don't enjoy going there.
