Anywho, I'm curious as to know what other peoples first impressions were of the forums, things they remember, things you did, etc... I s'pose I'll start, as I started the thread, and stuff like that. Just like that. You know what I mean, don't deny it. Oh, and any useage of n00b, vetran, etc... will not be tolerated. I will smack you down like an ethnic hooker. Ick. I used "etc..." twice in the same paragraph.
So anyways, I was a "MO drone," so we were dubbed. I registered as Majic_Abe a couple days before Christmas back in 2001, when I was, god, 11, maybe 12. The worst thing to think about is how much of an idiot I was. Ask anyone who was around then. But of course, it seems to pretty much be a common trend that anyone under 13 has a tinge of incoherence in their posts, and unless they are the odd one out, ignores several key grammar rules. Don't argue it, either; if you came in as an intelligent person, imagine having come in several years back before developed typing skills and and knowledge of netiquette. Face it, I'm right
But of course, I was a serial killer of the English language. No capitalization. No apostrophes. No spacing between periods and capital letters. My posts lacked any depth of thought other than that of a small, feeble minded child, with a mind incapable of comprehending the mightiness of the internet. Sydney, Abe Babe, Pilot, Elum, Lampion, Danny (then Rettick), and Slaskia (then Dragadon) were mods. But of course, now they're all grown up chaps. My old oddchat conversations were with Mojoman, Sligster (I think?), Abeface (Abegun, something like that?), and... other people. If we still had the top poster member search ability I could easily go back through the pages and rename them
Might also be nice to look back through and recall the older posters.
And of course, I got MSN because of the foroums, so I could talk to non oddchatters. Good ol' 8 person conversations and such. I don't remember the entire timeline, but there were some memorable events. And certain other people should remember them too, I'd hope.
- The guy who faked his death. Bah, forgot his name.
- Jacob coming back after being banned.
- The Morphius/Al scandal.
- First hearing Sydney hint in an oddchat between me, her and Alcar about how the Oddworld Help mod spot would be filled.
- The whole TGA/OWF split.
- The Oddtour, or whatever it was called.
- The formation of the Off Topic Literature/Art forum where, gosh, I forgot her name, was put in charge.
- Making quite possibly my worst post ever at the start of the Forum Suggestions & Feedback forum.
- I R A Slog, nuff' said. He was responsible for the hacking threat though, I think...
- Kaimana pumping out 35+ posts per day. OIPT stuff, back when it was still relatively organized.
- The first set of mod elections.
- How cool banners were. Honestly, everyone wanted them, and there were several request threads... Alcar made my first one, go him. ANd Statikk made a thread about the font style once... or something like that.
And of course, newer stuff that most people know about, like the first poster awards, second mod elections, second poster awards, Grig/Alcar going at each other's throats, Reese/Fourth Concept/Death and whatnot.
Anywho, excluding stuff I remember, there's also the fact that I've slowly been turned into a more nit picky grammar type, by far a better writer (merely from reading and responding so much), seem to have a habit of protecting those bashed by "vetrans", and still don't make many topics at all. Never did, never will. Probably will stay that way. So consider this a treat, becuase I'm bored out of my mind, lack the effects of sleep deprivation on a school night, and felt like thinking a bit.
So anywho, post away. Just talk about the forums and such! Now
