Chapter 2: Revelation
-Slig Barracks, Central Rookie Chamber-
-5 minutes later-
Echoed screams came from the mouth of the well at the other end, and Eba hurtled out, up into the air, and landed a few metres away on the ground with a loud thud. He woke up after a few minutes, rubbed his head and pulled himself up. His vision was slightly blurred, but he could make out everything around him. He was in a small room, not unlike his cell…in fact it was exactly like his cell. ‘I must’ve fired the wrong way somehow’ Eba thought. He heard a creak and a sudden clang as the well’s lid closed behind him, and a clunk as it locked itself. He paused and then decided to shout for someone to open the door. “HELLO!?” he yelled “IS ANYONE THERE!?” he stopped for breath “I THINK I’M LOCKED IN!” The cell door gave a hissing sound, as steam shot from its sides. It then slid upwards. Eba had always assumed that the cell doors were hinged, but obviously not. As the steam cleared, a shape came into view. Eba guessed it was a Vykker, although he had never seen one before, he was right. The Vykker stood at the doorway, behind him was a very elegant corridor with paintings and statues of Glukkons and Vykkers on either side. The walls and floor were still made of the same creamish-brown metal, but the floor at least had a red carpet down the middle. “…So this is what the outside of my cell looks like” gawped Eba. “Not quite.” said the Vykker “we merely replicated your living quarters at this end of the pipe to help you grow accustomed to your new surroundings at a faster rate, and make you feel secure.” Eba stared puzzled, he had never heard those long words before, and he had certainly never heard any accent other than the croaky one of the door guard’s. This accent fit very well with the surrounding paintings and statues. The Vykker saw the Eba didn’t understand what he had just said. “…let me put it another…more simple…way; we made a copy of your cell to make you feel at home. Understand?” Eba nodded quickly. “Don’t say much, do you?” laughed the Vykker. Eba shook his head. He didn’t know what to do or say, and decided to just stay quiet. “I have been told you have been given a real name by 335634DG6? Who is soon to become 0034EA-T1?” Eba stared blankly again. “Your door guard? Who’s becoming an Elite Anti-Terrorist?” Eba thought for a second and then said “Oh, you mean Eba. My name is Eba…sir!” The Vykker laughed as Eba attempted a salute and fell to the ground. “No need for that…Eba. Come along, the new recruits will want to see you.” Eba got up, and crawled after the Vykker, who moved surprisingly fast. “What do I call you?” Eba panted, as they reached the door after a short but very fast walk. “…Doctor Mort” he replied. The doors slid open. Eba’s eyes took a few seconds to adjust to the light, but when they did he gasped. Thousands and thousands of crawling Sligs waited in this cavern, down some steps. When they saw Eba they all roared and cheered. Eba was almost deafened by the screams of the crowd, as Dr Mort led him to the edge of the top step, looking down upon the crowd. The doctor raised his hands slowly and the crowd stopped making noise. “SLIGS OF THE NEW GENERATION!” He shouted, surprisingly loud “YOU ARE GATHERED HERE TODAY, NOT ONLY TO BE TRAINED AS NEW SOLDIERS OF THE MAGOG CARTEL…” He paused dramatically as the crowd cheered again “BUT TO WITNESS, AND TRAIN ALONGSIDE, THE NEW FULLY GROWN SUPER-SOLDIER!” The crowd became even more deafening. Eba started to feel slightly worried. “HE HAS BEEN KEPT OUT OF CIRCULATION FOR MANY YEARS...” He paused again “SO HE COULD FULLY GROW, AND THEREFORE IS MUCH OLDER THAN ANY OF YOU HERE TODAY…BUT HE DOES NOT APPEAR MUSCULAR LIKE ANY BIG-BRO, OR SMALL LIKE ANY FLYER. OH NO, THE CHEMICALS PUMPED INTO HIM HAVE CAUSED ANOTHER DIFFERENCE, ONE WHICH YOU CAN ALL RECOGNIZE…” He beckoned Eba to come into view of the crowd “HE HAS BECOME A STRONG GREEN COLOUR!” he motioned his arms towards Eba and the crowd roared. Eba looked at all the Sligs, a writhing mass of green-tinged yellow. He then looked at his own arm, which was fully and un-mistakably bright green. What?…this didn’t make sense, he was kept out circulation for years, and his arm was green, surely that didn’t mean…he was the Super Soldier! His head began to spin, the crowed began to blur and the sound became a loud piercing screech. Eba clutched his head and collapsed, he then blacked out.
